The MacBook Air M1 has proven its performance: So in this article, I will share my experience using a MacBook a M1 which I have used as a daily driver for approximately the last 2 years. Firstly, the body and specifications, as we already know, are called the MacBook Air M1. It uses Apple’s M1 processor and I use the base model at 8256 gigs, 8 gigs of RAM, and 256 gigs internally, like that.

Especially for the performance itself, this is really enough for workflows like mine, where I’m a designer and illustrator who might use a laptop, not far from a projector for design and maybe some motion graphics. Just a note here for using ion graphics: if you use it in After Effects with lots of objects rotating here and there, it’s dynamic with lots of layers; maybe it’s a little stuffy as well.
If you use 1080p video editing, it’s quite fast for rendering a 2-minute video. Maybe it takes around 2 to 3 minutes, which is almost the same after the video size itself is the same as for 4K; I’ve never tried this. I just wanted to test this. I recorded it using 4K.  So maybe later I will explain further in the comments or other articles.

MacBook Air M1 body

And for the body itself, the class of this MacBook is that the target market is middle- to upper-class; this base model is middle-class. So he really gave it a full metal body, and it’s really hard to press anywhere. It’s still hard, and nothing feels empty; just maybe there are a few small notes on the part of the screen where it’s the screen, not the panel.
So it’s true that the body on the screen for the Flex Flex screen isn’t just that there are some parts that are actually plastic; if you make it from iron, it’s weird.

As for the trackpad itself, it’s really comfortable to use. As for the keyboard, the travel distance is quite good when typing, and the feedback is also coming in, maybe because the few times I’ve used it, it’s been a bit rough. On the parts that I often press, I already feel that there are traces of use. For example, the enter and space parts are a bit loose; maybe it’s a bit loose.

trackpad
The trackpad itself is big, wide, and really nice; it feels smooth, and several times I didn’t bring the mouse because the mouse was a bit big and quite heavy, so I just designed it when I was outside, just using the trackpad, and that’s it. I can accommodate my needs when designing or editing videos.

MacBook Air M1 size

because this laptop is thin and is the best model, so Apple and Apple only provide two ports, namely two Thunderbolt 3 ports and one 3.5 mm audio jack. To avoid this, we actually need to add a dongle to plug in a USB or plug in an HDMI to add a screen. to such a monitor.  If you are really interested in buying this MacBook, you can also prepare a little money to buy a dongle as an additional port for your USB.
As for the experience of using the speaker, this speaker is quite good, and the sound is good. So if I compare it with the speakers on the iPad, it seems like it sounds louder from the iPad speakers than from the MacBook. Maybe that’s because one of the reasons is that I put my laptop a little far away.
It’s just that compared to the iPad’s speakers, sometimes the iPad is louder, the screen itself is Apple’s standard, namely using a Retina display screen, and usually when I use it for video grading, I don’t plug it into my monitor.
I just use the laptop, and usually I put it down as usual. It was sticking out of the monitor, and when I needed color grading, the color needed to be good. I took it off the monitor, and I just took the screen off the MacBook because the monitor’s color accuracy wasn’t that good because the internal size was only 256 gig.
But here, I decided to buy an external SSD from SanDisk. The size of 1 ta is enough to back up the data that I use every day, and because this is an SSD, when I have files on the SSD and I want to edit them directly on the SSD, it’s quite fast, and nothing is lost or slow, because the reading and writing speed is already quite fast. Luckily, here on my SSD, the cable is type C to type C. So you can plug it directly from the MacBook to the SSD without needing an additional dongle.
But actually, if you really have a lot of devices from Apple, whether you have an iPhone or an iPad, I suggest you subscribe to iCloud. If your files have a lot of photos, videos, and content creators, and you usually have a lot of material, I really recommend subscribing to iCloud. on a subscription basis.  iCloud can also be done in stages; maybe if you still have enough space, you can start at 200 gigs first—that’s 45,000 a month—and then when the 200 gigs are not enough, you can add to 2 Tera or increase again.
As for the user experience, this is from a workflow perspective for designers like me, so because I usually use this laptop, I plug it into the pen display. As the name suggests, the laptop goes straight to the pen display.
I connected the picture myself using a type C cable, but it can support streaming displays like that, so the price is a little more expensive than a regular USB, and it really helps to make the workflow simpler because, from a pen display, the cable that comes with it is three cables, namely USB, HDMI, and USB again, and if you plug it into a Macbook, it’s a bit complicated, three cables in one.
That’s why I prefer to just use a type C to type C cable like that because there’s a lot of workflow with the iPad. Here, the iPad and MacBook are synchronized really easily. Then, usually, I draw on the iPad and finish it there later. When I need a preview for a client or make a mockup, I just send the ping to the Macbook using Airdrop, and I edit it again on the MacBook using Adobe Illustrator like that.

MacBook Air M1 Battery

The MacBook Air M1 has proven its performance
That’s the battery itself. The battery is long enough for standard use for designing in Illustrator or Photoshop, unless I really need it for drawing. The battery consumption will be more wasteful, so you can charge it two to three times a day because the pen display consumes power from the MacBook because previously it only used one cable, one cable that supports power, display support, and data support.
So if the cable is bigger, heavier, and thicker, it can indirectly consume more power from the MacBook.  So what I usually do when I use it normally, like editing videos on the design, is to charge it once a day, a maximum of two times. Meanwhile, if you really use it for taking pictures, you can charge it two or three times. Overall, the battery is long-lasting, and the charger is really universal, especially now that almost all devices are charged using USB, even the Mac charging cable. I use it to charge my cellphone and my iPad, and sometimes I also charge this camera.

(The MacBook Air M1 has proven its performance.) Next, the price itself: when I checked the final quarter of 2023 towards 2024, the price was still 11 million, more or less 11.5 to 11,800.  whereas when I first bought it, the price was still at $14 million.
When I bought it for 14 million, I felt it was really worth it for the price of 14 million with the specifications I got now, especially with the current price of just 11 million. I didn’t think twice if you really had that budget and really needed your laptop. But it’s a different story. If your cas user really needs a device with higher specifications, if you use it to focus on looking for work to take care of designs or create 3D assets or interior designs or architects, maybe you can choose the M1 Pro, M1 Max, or m2 and higher levels.
Because this is a charging user, I already use the base M1, which I have used for this long, and if I really need an upgrade, I will upgrade again like that with the same user experience specifications. The price, which is not too high, is really worth it for you to take this MacBook as your daily driver laptop, whether for light work such as student office work or admin work that is already too much.
The MacBook Air M1 has proven its performance. If you really need to design it, there’s no such thing, and there are no complaints anymore about using this MacBook rir M1. If you want to check out this product, I will also make another article about the user experience using the iPad Air m1, and that’s all from me. Thank you.
